Best Weapons
Game8 ranks the Baishan Stormswords, Outlaw Warblade and White Serpent & Crimson Viper as Phantom Blade Zero's best weapons as of reaching Meigu Lake, followed by the Fiend Saws and Wild Oriole Sword. S-Game publishes no ranking; early on, Jagged Steel suits bleed-prone bosses.
Game8 ranks the Baishan Stormswords first among Phantom Blade Zero's weapons, as of reaching Meigu Lake, ahead of the Outlaw Warblade and the White Serpent & Crimson Viper. That is one site's opinion partway through the game, and S-Game publishes no ranking. Most weapons come from bosses, GameSpot's analysis says, many of them optional. Every weapon is on Weapons.
Game8's top five

| Fiend Saws | 302 | 120 guard break | Fast, with Corrosion bursts on guard-broken foes | Iron Fiend and Jade Dancer |

Early picks
In Weeping Creek Valley, Jagged Steel builds bleed, the Sanguine Twin weaves quick counters, and the Scarlet Wraithblade drains Sha-Chi quickly. Swapping weapons refills Sha-Chi, Game8 notes, so carry two that work together. A Reforging Talisman returns upgrade materials if you change your mind (Skills and Upgrades).

WeaponsPhantom Blade Zero has over 30 primary weapons (30 in S-Game's State of Play) alongside 25 secondary weapons called Phantom Edges. Soul carries two primary weapons at once, wins most of them from bosses, and upgrades each into new forms, with every upgrade refundable through the Reforging Talisman. -
Skills and UpgradesPhantom Blade Zero has no experience points or character levels: Soul grows through a skill tree opened at bells, weapon upgrades that unlock new forms and can be refunded for free with the Reforging Talisman, accessories, and Memory Flowers that raise his health. The currency, Remnant Dust, is finite because killed enemies stay dead.
-
66 Days Mode66 Days (S-Game also writes "Sixty-Six Days") is Phantom Blade Zero's hardest mode, unlocked after you finish the game once: it plays at Hellwalker difficulty and turns Soul's 66 days to live into a counter that drops by one with each death, and at zero the run ends in permanent death with its own short ending. On a normal playthrough the 66 days are story only, with no timer.

Beginner's GuideThe key to Phantom Blade Zero is Sha-Chi, the meter under your health bar: holding block drains it and an empty bar breaks your guard, so parry blue-flash attacks, perfectly dodge red-flash ones for a Ghoststep, and swap weapons to refill it. Enemies you kill stay dead and the Reforging Talisman refunds every weapon upgrade, so explore everything and upgrade freely. -
Difficulty ModesPhantom Blade Zero has four difficulty modes: Wayfarer (the easiest, "intuitive and cinematic"), Pathbreaker (the standard mode), Hellwalker (adaptive bosses with "pure fighting game mechanics") and 66 Days, which unlocks for a second playthrough and ends the run for good if Soul's 66 days run out. Every trophy can be earned on the first three, and S-Game calls the game neither a Soulslike nor a hack-and-slash.
